Relaxation and adventure

With two miles of magnificent strand and sand dunes, a way-marked nature trail, championship golf links, surfing, boating, water sports - the list is endless in this wonderful coastal town. Portstewart has everything for all tastes, whether it’s relaxing in a peaceful harbour town or exploring one of the world’s wonders, all within easy access to your new home at Islay View.

Portstewart boasts many fine restaurants and award-winning dining experiences, both in the town and the surrounding area. Bars are plentiful and are sure to suit all age groups, whether it’s a lively night out in a club or a quiet night in the tranquillity of one of the local pubs.

Activities are endless here, from spending time on the water to travelling the many historic and mysterious locations dotted throughout the locality. Attractions include yachting and diving to international spectator sports such as the Northwest 200 and the Milk Cup tournament. Indeed, the Northwest 200 can be viewed from some of Islay View’s apartment balconies, but the gold tickets belong to the spectacular views of the races available from the roof garden, above the penthouse suites.

After many years known as the Carnival, the Red Sails Festival was christened in 1998 to commemorate the famous lyrics written by Jimmy Kennedy in the song ‘Red Sails in the Sunset’, which was penned overlooking Portstewart Bay. Over the past three decades, the initial concept has developed into what we have today, one of the most popular family events in the North Coast’s calendar.

The Giant’s Causeway, and the coastal scenery adjacent to the causeway is some of the most beautiful and awe inspiring that you are likely to find anywhere. The majestic cliffs and inaccessible bays combine with myth and legend to inspire, but look carefully amongst this breathtaking landscape and you will find echoes of another reality, isolated ruins, kelp walls and  shoreline fields bear testament to the harder life of subsistence farming and fishing endured by past generations. Dotted around the coast you'll find small sheltered harbours and slipways, fishermen's cottages and rock formations that you will never forget.

All in all, Portstewart provides homeowners with a host of activities to complement this magnificent Islay View lifestyle.
